Moorfields surgeon recognised for his research into eye cancer

Mr Mandeep Sagoo, honorary consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, has been awarded the prestigious King James IV Professorship at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Sagoo treats patients with complex eye tumours and was recognised for his clinical research and expertise in the field of ocular oncology (eye cancer).

The King James IV lectureships are awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh annually to those who have made a significant contribution to surgery and have established a national or international reputation in their field.

At the event, Mr Sagoo presented a lecture on the treatment of eye tumours, advances in chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.

Professor Robert Scott, medical director at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, said: "Moorfields is deeply honoured to host this prestigious occasion in Dubai and thrilled to be presenting this award to Mr Mandeep Sagoo, who is a very worthy recipient of the King James IV Professorship. This is the first time that this prestigious lecture has been delivered in the United Arab Emirates and demonstrates the commitment of Mr Sagoo and Moorfields Eye Hospital to the region.”
